Rishov Mukhopadhyay

Research:

My first introduction to research was during my bachelor’s studies, where I was involved in identification and characterization of natural compounds of Ethno-pharmacological importance. My interest in chemical biology developed during my master’s education where, I was fascinated by the diverse behavior of Ubiquitin Proteasome System. My work mostly focused upon understanding the interaction of Ubiquitin Specific Protease (USP15) with its inhibitor Mitoxantrone based on crystallographic studies.

My Ph.D. work is focused  upon developing appropriate high-throughput assays for Tri-Partite Motif (TRIM) proteins. My work encompasses developing recombinant E2 and E3 proteins. Following this, the  focus will be put on assay development and validation and assay translation towards high throughput assays. This effort will also include the generation of assay reagents and/or synthetic peptide substrates by total synthesis.

Curriculum vitae:

I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Jadavpur University, West Bengal, India. Following this I worked for some time at a multinational cosmetic company as a Quality Control Chemist. After an year, I moved to the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom to pursue my master’s education on Drug Discovery and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Following this I worked with a  startup medical device company in the U.K. as a Regulatory Affairs intern.

Currently, I have joined the laboratory of Prof. Huib Ovaa to pursue Ph.D. I have been accepted under the ESR Marie Skłodowska-Curie ITN: TRIM-NET project. My aim is to develop TRIM-specific assays suitable for High-Throughput- Screening.
