M.Sc. Thomas Dirkse

Thomas studied at Utrecht University where he obtained a B.Sc. in Mathematics and a M.Sc. in Computing Science. During his masters he primarily focused on pattern recognition, machine learning and signal processing. The projects he worked on included automatic object detection in satellite images, automatic segmentation methods for raw audio data, and for his thesis he conducted research into ensemble-based active learning methods in the context of multivariate response modeling. In the beginning of 2021, Thomas joined the Koster Lab as a research technician, where he works on automatic segmentation of cellular structures in EM images using deep-learning based models and assists the team in the implementation of the segmentation pipeline.
