On January 18th, 2023 Yang Hao successfully defended her thesis ‘Photodynamic Therapy Based combinations with Immunotherapy in colon cancer treatment’

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a well-established approach in superficial cancer treatment. The aim of my Ph.D. research work has been to improve therapeutic responses in solid tumors by combining PDT with immunotherapy for colorectal cancer treatment. We combined PDT with immune check point blockade, vaccine-based and STING pathway activation therapeutic approaches and achieved additive/synergistic therapeutic effects. We hope that the insights and concepts of our studies will contribute to better treatments of cancer patients.
