About the Szuhai lab

Our research aim is to elucidate molecular genetic changes that are responsible for sarcoma development, progression or prognosis by using a wide range of molecular cytogenetic tools thereby improving genetic classification of these tumor entities allowing stratification for better diagnosis and treatment. 

We develop and apply molecular cytogenetic tools to study molecular genetics of bone and soft tissue tumors, and establish live cell culture system from these rare entities. The main goal is to identify novel genomic changes that can be used as potential diagnostic tool, followed by  detailed characterization of their cellular functions using state of art molecular biology tools such as cloning, tagging, transfection, gene editing with CRISPR/Cas and live-cell imaging. Established model cell lines derived from rare tumor entities serves the base to perform functional tests and identify actionable target and drugs for possible treatment.
