Research
During my PhD in the PHEniX lab at the Amsterdam UMC, I focused on the endothelial transcription factor SOX17 and its function in vascular health and shear stress-related signaling in the context of pulmonary arterial hypertension. During my postdoc with Marie-José, I will expand on this project by focusing on fibrosis of the heart and signaling of its vessels with 3D Vessels-on-a-Chip.
Curriculum vitae
I obtained my Bachelor’s in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Amsterdam in 2019, where I did a 5-month internship in the group of Renée van Amerongen focused on WNT signaling and live-cell imaging. I developed a love for microscopy during this internship, and therefore decided to pursue a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences with a specialization in Cell Biology and Advanced Microscopy from 2019 to 2021. After more than 1.5 years of internships during a global pandemic at the group of Stephan Huveneers in the Amsterdam UMC and Martijn Gloerich at the UMC Utrecht, both focused on mechanobiology, I joined the PHEniX laboratory in the Amsterdam UMC under supervision of Jurjan Aman in November 2021. During my PhD project, I further developed my skills in microscopic imaging, mechanical stimulation of endothelial cells with shear stress, and cloning of lentiviral plasmids. I joined the Goumans lab immediately after my PhD contract finished, and I will keep performing experiments in both Leiden and Amsterdam to strengthen the collaboration between both groups.
