About the Baker lab

The fundamental aim of our research is to decipher how signal transduction pathways and their downstream transcription factors control normal cell fate, to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that cause diseases such as cancer when these networks are corrupted and to develop novel therapeutic approaches to treating these diseases. To this end, we take a multidisciplinary approach encompassing reverse-genetics; a broad spectrum of biochemistry techniques; culture of primary human cells and tumour cell lines; molecular biology; microscopy; in vivo analyses in zebrafish and high throughput screens for the identification of novel small molecule inhibitors of transcription factors.
