About the Lamers lab

Our group studies the molecular mechanisms of high-fidelity DNA replication.

At each cell division the entire genome needs to be duplicated with high accuracy to ensure faithful propagation of the genetic information. DNA replication is performed by a large multiprotein complex termed the replisome. How the different proteins function and organize their activity during DNA replication is not well understood. In addition, we study to closely associated mechanisms DNA mismatch repair and translesion DNA synthesis. We use structural, biochemical, and single molecule approaches to unravel the mechanism of DNA replication, mismatch repair, and translesion DNA synthesis.
