Through a NEMI (http://www.e-microscopy.nl/) grant of 3.200.000 euro the LUMC obtained a new state-of-the-art cryo electron microscope that replaces the 20-years old Philips Tecnai F20 microscope. The microscope reached its end-of-life and produced valuable data that appeared in many publications. In the last week it has been removed from its spot to make place for necessary rebuilding of the rooms and accompanying infrastructure (cooling, electronics and operating room). The restructuring and installation will take a few months.
