RNA replication in the absence of Replication Organelles

The dogma that membrane rearrangements are indispensable for genome replication and innate immune evasion is challenged.

RNA replication in the absence of Replication Organelles

Enterovirus replication sets up camp in the Golgi in the absence of replication organelles, challenging the paradigm that these virus-induced membrane rearrangements are indispensable for genome replication and innate immune evasion. The membrane-supported replication strategy of enterovirus extends to other important human pathogens, like SARS and MERS coronaviruses, hepatitis C viruses and Zika virus.
