On her poster, Selas described how she isolated a collection of new adenoviruses from gorillas, bonobos, chimpanzees and orangutans. A selection of these viruses was evaluated for their capacity to infect and kill human cancer cells. Some of the viruses are not recognized by pooled human sera, which may allow their effective use in oncolytic virus therapy.
