The NVBMB prize has been handed out since 1981 to give recognition to the work of a highly talented young independent biochemist or molecular biologist working in the Netherlands. After judging the applications, the jury awarded the prize to Dr. Sharp, whom they rated as a very talented molecular biologist and nano-engineer with an excellent track record and international reputation, who has developed an innovative and promising research line.
