PhD-student

My research is aimed at understanding the mechanisms that ensure high-fidelity DNA synthesis: how the DNA polymerase avoids making mistakes, how the exonuclease removes mis-incorporated nucleotides, and how the DNA moves in between the two active sites. For this I use biochemistry, single-molecule methods, and cryo-EM.
I performed my bachelor’s studies in Physics at the Sapienza University of Rome. Following this, I completed my Master Studies in Biological and soft Matter Physics, at Leiden Univeristy. In March 2018 I started my PhD studies in the lab of Meindert Lamers.
