Xiaoyan Zhang
Xiaoyan Zhang is a PhD student from the lab of Gregory Schneider at the Supramolecular and Biomaterials Chemistry department at the LIC, University Leiden. She works on next generation sequencing for DNA and proteins directly read the sequence of biopolymers from head-to-tail. As the traditionally used SiN membrane is too thick to read out the individual DNA base, single layer 2D materials show more promising in this respect. Besides of graphene, also a synthesized 2D polymer layer that with a nanopore drilled by TEM for DNA sequencing or other molecular detection.
