Dr. Vanessa van Harmelen

I studied Health Sciences at Maastricht University. I obtained my PhD at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm in the group of Prof. Peter Arner on the role of white adipose tissue in the development of type-2 diabetes and atherosclerosis. I continued this line of research as a Post Doc at the German Diabetes Research Institute in Düsseldorf, at the Technical University of Munich, at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and finally at the department of Human Genetics of the LUMC. During these years I became increasingly interested in teaching related activities and since January 2018 I am working at CCB where my focus is completely on education.
