Our Pipeline
This pipeline is designed to support and guide you from initial construct design to protein production and analysis, providing the tools and expertise to advance your research efficiently and effectively.
1. Construct Design and Cloning
We provide comprehensive support in gene design and cloning for optimal expression. Our team assists with:
- Selecting the right expression system
- Choosing appropriate affinity or solubility tags
- Codon optimization and design of synthetic genes
- Co-expression options
- And more
2. Protein Expression
We offer two powerful systems for recombinant protein production:
- Bacteria: utilizing multiple E. coli strains, with expression volumes up to 12 liters per experiment.
- Insect Cells (Sf9 and Tni): suitable for complex protein production.
For this we have available:
- Multiple Multitron (Infors-HT) shakers with a capacity of 11 litres of bacterial cultures per incubator for temperature-controlled bacterial growth and expression of proteins
- Large capacity centrifuge for cell harvesting
- Two Innova shakers for growing upto 8 litres of insect cell culture
3. Protein Purification
Our facility is fully equipped for versatile purification approaches, including affinity, ion-exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography. We provide a selection of affinity beads and columns compatible with our expression plasmid set, which can be used in gravity flow or on our Bio-Rad NGC FPLC systems. Typical yields range from 0.5 to 30 mg of protein.
4. Biophysical Characterization
We support protein quality control with a standard procedure that includes a) size exclusion chromatography for verifying the size and possibly identify any aggregation, followed by b) SDS-PAGE and c) quantification by absorbance measurement. Additionally, a range of biophysical techniques, including protein stability screening, protein unfolding and aggregation can be performed.

5. Molecular Interactions
Our facility enables detailed biomolecular interaction studies, covering binding kinetics and molecular affinities to reveal interaction dynamics that are critical to your research.

6. Structural Studies
When structural insights are essential to answer a biological question within your research project, we offer structural investigation services using x-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy. Each structural study is tailored to the research question, with discussions between the applicant and our expert scientists ensuring optimal study design and execution.
