Bjorn R. van Doodewaerd

Research:

As a technician of the Ovaa lab I have primary a supportive role. Activities are mainly LCMS related. These include method development, both universal as well as focused analysis methods. Purifications, using PREP-LCMS system where based on MS signal factions are collected. System upkeep, preventive maintenance is preformed every month to see if all equipment is still up to standards. Troubleshooting, not all problems can be avoided and thus if problems pop-up with the LCMS equipment I figure out the cause and restore the system to its original conditions where possible. Current side project is focused on the monitoring the effects on ionizing radiation on various compounds.

Curriculum Vitae:

I started my studies at the Nova college Beverwijk (MLO), as biomedical analyst in 2006 to start 2011. After an attempt at IT (2011 to early 2012) I continued my lab orientated studies, this time at InHolland Amsterdam (HLO) (2012 to 2016). During my third year I did my internship at the VU university. Here they taught me all the ins and outs of liquid chromatography and I learned a lot about mass spectrometry. My graduation internship took place at the NKI (Ovaa group). Here I continued developing my LC-MS skills. Following my internship I stayed with the Ovaa group as technician. During the transfer from NKI to LUMC I helped out setting up the analytical lab. From then till present I have been working as caretaker of the labs LC-MS equipment and LC-MS support.
