Laura Claessens
Research:
My interests lie in fundamental research in the context of cell biology and protein function herein. I like to work with in vitro cell-culture models to analyze protein function and interactions, for example by overexpression, knockdown/knockout or pharmacological inhibition, and to analyze the consequences on cellular processes. My project focuses on the role of SUMO proteases, responsible for removing SUMOs from proteins.
Curriculum Vitae:
I have completed my bachelor and master’s in Biomedical Sciences at Leiden University. During my bachelor, I did a 4-month internship at the department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion of the LUMC. During my master’s, I did a 5-month internship at the department of Hematology of the LUMC and an 8-month internship at the department of Microbial Pathogenesis of Yale University in the United States. In September 2018, I started as a PhD student in the group of Alfred Vertegaal.
