Dr. Abhishek Sinha

Research:

I am an experienced researcher having previously four years of research experience in Biochemistry, Cell Biology and Genetics. I am presently interested in uncovering new chemical inhibitors that works on cancer’s. Specifically, I am focused in breast cancer model’s and the effect of novel inhibitors have on key intracellular signaling pathways like TGFb, MAPK, Akt etc. Finding mechanisms of inhibition is crucial to my projects. I am also keenly interested to supervise new research projects that aim to uncover the role of diverse deubiquitinating enzymes in diverse cancer models.

Curriculum Vitae:

I am from India. I did my Ph.D from Department of Biological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research-Kolkata (2008-2014), under the guidance of Prof. Srimonti Sarkar. My Ph.D work was focused on uncovering the structure and function of proteasome in parasitic protist Giardia. I also worked on projects related to Phosphoinositide kinetics and ER resident protein translocating channel of the parasite. My first Post Doctoral stint was with Dr. Elah Pick at Department of Biology and Environment in University of Haifa (2014-2018). There I worked extensively on Cullin E3 Ligases (CRL’s). My projects were focused mainly on the role played by redox homeostasis on the NEDDylation/deNEDDylation dynamics within cell. I also worked on project’s understanding the role of CRL’s in lipid homeostasis in yeasts. Presently in LUMC I am carrying out high throughput screens of a large number of compounds against diverse cancer model’s.
