Research:

With a background as a trained pharmacist, I was always driven by a curiosity about the biochemical processes underlying disease and a profound interest in discovering novel therapeutic solutions. During my research internships I worked on new therapeutic approaches, with a specific focus on PROTACs and fragment-based target discovery of E3 ligases.

During my PhD at the CCB, I will combine my knowledge and interest towards further understanding on how dysregulation in the ubiquitin system contributes towards neurodegenerative diseases and in particular Huntington's Disease. Here I will focus on improving the ubiquitin proteasome system towards novel therapeutic strategies.

Curriculum vitae:

I qualified as a licensed pharmacist at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany. During my time there, I completed two internships at the SGC within Stefan Knapp's group. These experiences allowed me to enhance my proficiency in Biochemical assays and the synthesis of PROTACs. Additionally, throughout my pharmacy studies, I gained valuable experience in quality control within the industry at BioSpring GmbH in Frankfurt, with a focus on the instrumental analysis of RNAs.

In my final year, I undertook an internship at Oxford University's Target Discovery Institute with the group of Kilian Huber. During this period, I focused on investigating fragment-based target discovery of E3 ligases. In February 2024, I embarked on my journey as a PhD student at the Cell and Chemical Biology (CCB) group under the supervision of Monique Mulder.
