Research:
I am a studied chemist with an interest in synthetic biology. I work on synthetic small ubiquitin-like molecule (SUMO) with possible unnatural alterations in the structural make up to be used as tools to study their functions in cells. We are working on identifying interactors of SUMO to gain a better understanding of its function in cells. Also, we are studying the link between the SUMO and the ubiquitin modification system and the consequences for the involved proteins. Furthermore we are investigating the deubiquitinating enzyme (DUB) Usp32 and aiming to find an inhibitor.
Curriculum Vitae:
I studied chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Munich, Germany. In my Master I had a bio-organic focus and worked on DNA crosslinkers in my Thesis. Before my studies I spent a year doing voluntary work in South Africa.
